MURRAY PEARSON, Council Member - Workshop mentor “The more you know, the more you know the less you know.” Murray was fortunate enough to start using computers as a boy at the end of the 1970s, on Internet Node #4 at the University of Utah. He programmed his first video game on a Sinclair ZX81 in 1981, and, um, hasn’t completed another. His interest in computer graphics led to him pioneering desktop pre-press, and he made the first magazine on desktop computers in Canada in 1992. He really, really likes things that fly; he’s built well over 100 rockets and designed a few dozen of them. He was introduced to electronics in the early ‘80s and designed, on paper, a system to control his model railroad, which almost certainly would not have worked at all. But that experience has given him huge enthusiasm for Arduino microcontrollers, where the logic’s not hard-wired. Over the years he’s used over 30 computer languages, including UserTalk++, where he was 1/2 of the world-wide user base. He has studied physics and civil and electrical engineering, but is allergic to graduations. He can connect absolutely any idea to the lyrics of a song by They Might Be Giants. MURRAY could probably help you with: Structural Design, Aerodynamics, Arduino and Electronics, Woodworking, Music, and most of all Miscellaneous.
